On May 12, a piece of news came from the Heavy Section Plant of Angang Steel Co., Ltd. that the plant successfully trial rolled No.26 flat bulb steel which was a typical variety with difficulty to roll among civil flat bulb steel. Through inspection, the specification, dimension and surface quality were completely acceptable, which marks that Ansteel has had the capability of complete varieties of supply capability in civil flat bulb steel and has become the sole state-owned enterprise in China to have the capability of complete varieties of supply capability supply in civil flat bulb steel.

The flat bulb steel for ship is characterized by many specifications, varied cut-to-length, heavy tooling investment and small order quantity from ship plant. Therefore, it is very difficult to realize all varieties supply. In this regard, Angang Steel Co., Ltd. organized Heavy Section Plant, Ansteel Group Iron and Steel Research Institute, Product Development Department, Product Manufacturing Department, Information Department of Anshan Iron and Steel Corporation, General Steel-making Plant and Quality Inspection Center to establish a research team for carrying out corresponding research on the development of flat bulb steel for ship in a systematic, organized and planned way. Now a mature and stable design groove system for flat bulb steel has formed and the average yield reached more than 91%, which laid a foundation for product development.
