Recently, the second batch of 1.46mm thick minting steel sample plates produced by Cold Rolling Mill of Xichang Steel and Vanadium Co., Ltd. were sent to the customer, who gave a good response to the first batch of sample plate. This marks that the company got a phased success in developing and trial producing minting steel.

Belonging to the special cold hard steel, the minting steel has complicated manufacturing process, requires strict composition control and has great difficulty in production. Therefore, only a few enterprises can produce such kind of steel now. In January this year, Xichang Steel and Vanadium Co., Ltd. reached a cooperative intent with a Mint owned by the State to supply the sample plate of minting steel.

After accepting the task of trial manufacturing minting steel, Xichang Steel and Vanadium Co., Ltd. quickly worked out a development scheme of “exploring a process to produce cold-rolling strip for minting”, carried out full-process management and control and elaborate arrangement for trial production process and finally produced the minting coils with 1220mm wide and 1.46mm thick. And two batches of plate samples were selected and sent to the customer successively.
