On October 14 the website of the state ministry of science and technology announced the list of the third batch of national key laboratories of corporation approved for construction. The key laboratory of Ansteel metal materials and applications for marine equipment is in the list. This is China's first national key laboratory in the field of metal materials and applications for marine equipment. It is a second national key laboratory after that of "comprehensive utilization of vanadium and titanium resources" owned by Ansteel Group.

    According to introduction, after becoming the national key laboratory of corporation, Ansteel will rely on its own advantage of comprehensive research with the development of multi-disciplinary which draws on the field of metallic materials and applications for marine equipment, with the support of the state and the supporting institutions, focus attentions on the key materials and technical bottlenecks restricting the development of the national marine engineering equipment, carry out research on application basis and generic technology of high performance materials, set up the standard evaluation system for special performance testing, develop the open demonstration platform of research, development and evaluation of metallic materials for marine equipment, to provide technical supports in the basic theory and application practice for the field of national marine equipment manufacturing industry.
