The Metallurgical Mining Development and Research Center was established in Ansteel yesterday. It is the first national-level metallurgical mine economic development and research organization organized by Metallurgical Mines' Association of China and sponsored by Ansteel Mining Industry Company. The establishment has a great significance in consolidating and developing the status of Ansteel as a domestic enterprise with the most resource advantage in steel industry, pushing forward the transformation and upgrading of steel industry, realizing sustainable development of iron ore industry in our country and ensuring the strategy safety of iron ore resource supply.

   Resource security is an important part of national security. In recent years, the production capacity of iron and steel in our country has expanded very fast, thus the demand of iron ore increases sharply and the dependency on foreign countries has reached up to 70%. The high dependency of iron ore on exporting not only makes steel industry difficult to get rid of serious situation, but also seriously threatens national industry chain security. In March this year, the preparation of the first Medium and Long-term Development Planning of Iron Ore Industry was launched in our country. Its purpose is to establish a safeguard system of iron ore resource, stabilize international iron ore price and support the transformation and upgrading of steel industry.

    It’s said that the establishment of the Research Center of Metallurgical Mining Industry Development embodies important measures to push forward the preparation of Medium and Long-term Development Planning of Iron Ore Industry and implement national resource safeguard strategy and industry structure adjustment. It will collect the wisdom and strength of the whole nations, play the role of think tank and intelligence library, solve the major problems of influencing metallurgical mine industry development, such as industry policy, industry strategy, industry planning, industry layout, industry organization, industry economy and industry operation etc., promote the transformation and upgrading of steel industry in our country and finally realize the sustainable development of iron ore industry in our country.
    
   As a non-profit research and consultation organization, the Research Center of Metallurgical Mining Industry Development will mainly rely on the pioneering enterprise of iron ore industry------- Ansteel Mining Industry Company to carry out operation management, play the leading role of Ansteel mining industry in strategy management, industrialized operation, scientific and technological innovation and engineering management, conduct the research of metallurgical mine enterprise in development strategy and management and control, competitive power and business mode, enterprise cost and technical economy, solve the major problems concerning industry development and provide intelligent support for domestic iron ore mine enterprise to realize scientific development, innovative development and green development. Meanwhile, the center will further promote Ansteel Mining Industry Company to be the first world-level iron ore mine enterprise in our country, strengthen and develop Ansteel’s status with the most resource advantage in domestic steel industry. 

   It’s reported that the center will establish a high-quality expert and authorized research team to make research in metallurgical mining economy, policy and the overall, long-term, strategic and comprehensive problems concerning the industry, timely analyze industry development, predict industry development trends to provide the basis and reference for relevant departments to make decisions; according to the demands of industry, it will carry out the research of foundation and application countermeasures in policy and regulations, strategy planning, resource allocation, system and mechanism, industry policy and sustainable development, provide basic business support and policy consultation service for industry reform and development, follow the development of the world mining industry, seize the development trend of world mining industry, research the countermeasures of “walking out”, carry out international cooperation research and exchange and provide reference of reform and development for domestic metallurgical mining industry.
