Ansteel Melt Armco Iron by means of New Process

    Recently, Ansteel made an innovation in melting process technology and successfully melt a heat of Armco iron. All the elements in steel reached the lowest level, which created a new record for extra-clean steel melting in Ansteel’s history. The technology for melting Armco iron by means of the process is the first created in the current world and fills the technical gap for melting Armco iron with oxygen converter plus secondary refining furnace at home and abroad. 

    As an important steel basic material, the Armco iron is mainly used for melting various kinds of high-temperature alloy, heat-resistant alloy, precise alloy and other aviation and aerospace as well as military industrial alloy or steel products. In recent years, it has an extremely fast development at home and abroad. The Armco iron requires extremely low element contents and super high purity. At present, the mature process is to melt Armco iron by means of EAF and vacuum inductive furnace in special steel plant.

    By demonstrating technical proposals for many times, it only took less than one month for Ansteel to determine the production process proposal and carry out industrial simulating melting, which laid a solid foundation for the trial production of Armco iron. During trial production, Ansteel got rid of the concept of conventional converter SRP method and utilized new melting process and successfully realized the comprehensive utilization of melting technologies under the condition of hot metal with high phosphorus content, such as dephosphorization, desulphurization, decarburization, deoxidation, dehydrogenation and control nitrogen in secondary refining furnace. Finally all the elements in liquid steel fully met the requirement of composition control for Armco iron.
