The heat treatment performance and CCS inspection result for the pipe are acceptable once for all and all the performance index have met all the requirements of API standard.
It is reported that Q690E belongs to low-alloy structural steel, which not only requires high strength but also has good low-temperature impact toughness and good welding performance. Pansteel Group Chengdu Steel and Vanadium Co., Ltd. has never produced the pipe with such steel grade. Therefore, it has some difficulties in melting, rolling and heat treatment process.
In order to seize high-end seamless pipe market, the production, sales and research systems in Pansteel Group Chengdu Steel and Vanadium Co., Ltd. closely cooperated with each other and made all their efforts to tackle the problems. Research personnel and steelmaking and pipe rolling technicians repeatedly researched and worked out process line design, mold flux selection, secondary cooling curve preparation, rolling heating schedule, heat treatment process parameter and other process control contents and made all-process tracking for the production process. Pansteel Group Chengdu Steel and Vanadium Co., Ltd. succeeded in trial-manufacturing 95t Q690E seamless pipe in batches by means of “VD Continuous Casting Slab →340 Mill Rolling → 340 Pipe Area One Quenching and Tempering” process. The production and trial-manufacturing process is stable and the heat treatment performance and CCS inspection result for the pipe are acceptable once for all, meet the expectations of the customer and all the performance index have met all the requirements of X100Q PLS2 product in API standard.
According to the insider, the successful research and trail production of Q690E seamless pipe marked that Pansteel Group Chengdu Steel and Vanadium Co., Ltd. made a new breakthrough in producing high-strength seamless pipe product for ocean engineering and created conditions for developing the pipe products with large-aperture and thick wall for supporting ocean platform.
