On May 26, a piece of news came from Ansteel Heavy Section Plant that nearly 150,000 tons of rails from Ansteel were laid in Shanxi Zhongnan Railway----- the first railway built according to ten thousand tons of heavy load railway standard, which is an important coal resource transportation railway connecting the eastern and western parts in China.
It is reported that Shanxi Zhongnan Railway is a newly-built “West-East Coal Transportation” energy transportation artery in China. The railway, starting from Lvliang, Shanxi province in the west and ending at Rizhao port, Shandong Province in the east, is 1260km in total length with the annual transportation capacity of 200 million tons. The design target is to bear 30t axle weight and 10000t large train with the speed of 120km/h. Now the construction for the world longest and fastest heavy railway with the highest standard is coming to an end. It is expected to be opened to traffic this year.
Ansteel Group has two rail production bases, i.e. Anshan Iron and Steel Corporation and Panzhihua Iron and Steel Corporation. Its U77MnCr, U75V and U78CrV series rail products are the first selected product for domestic heavy railways and have a good application achievement in Datong-Qinhuangdao Railway which has the largest annual transportation volume in the world. Since the commencement of Shanxi Zhongnan Railway, Ansteel has accepted the project order with nearly 150,000t rails, which accounts for more than 60% of the whole rail demands.
In order to supply high-quality and enough rails, Ansteel optimized production process and improved liquid steel purity. Therefore, the performance of the rails improved stably and the tensile strength, hardness and other index are higher than standard requirements. At present, 125,800t rails with different specifications have been supplied and the rest ones will be supplied in succession.
