Core Material of New-type ANFO-emulsion Explosives In Ansteel Filled Domestic Gap

    It was learned from Ansteel Group Mining Design and Research Institute that relying on the technical achievement------the research and application of the core material for high-performance ANFO-emulsion explosives made by the institute, Ansteel successfully broke the dependence on imported core materials of ANFO-emulsion explosives and filled domestic gap. The achievement has great significance in leading the upgrade of explosive production process technology and promoting industry technology progress.

    It’s said that the open pit of Ansteel Mining Company has an annual blasting volume of more than 200 million tons and has great demands to explosives each year. In order to improve blasting quality in open pit and reduce the operating cost of loading, transportation and crushing sequence, Ansteel Mining Company began to introduce ground emulsion making loading truck process to produce ANFO-emulsion explosives in 2004. But the massive dependence on imported core material has extremely negative effect to the smooth production and cost control. Therefore, Ansteel Group Mining Design and Research Institute made all its effort to carry out the research project and succeeded in 2005. In 2011, the achievement of research project entered actual application phase in Ansteel.
    
    At present, the core material of this new-type ANFO-emulsion explosive has been used in seven large-scale mines including Qidashan Iron Mine of Ansteel Mining Company. This improves the efficiency of loading, transportation, ore crushing and rock crushing, reduces by 7.3% for the unit explosive consumption, meanwhile solves the difficult problem of ore-bearing rock blasting area and makes profits of 160 million yuan each year. The project successively won many prizes, such as the second prize of National Scientific and Technological Progress from metallurgical industry, the second prize of Science and Technology from China Society of Engineering Blasting, the first prize of Metallurgical Mine Science and Technology and the first prize of Science and Technology from Liaoning Province etc..
